Pallet shuttle systems are high-density compact storage solutions that use powered shuttles to automatically transport loads into racks. Pallet transport is remotely controlled by an operator. As a result, storage space is optimally utilized and the accident rate at the workplace is also reduced. The use of automatic shuttles instead of forklifts during storage not only reduces the risk of accidents but also reduces maintenance costs due to rack damage.
How does it work?
The pallet shuttle system is a compact semi-automatic pallet storage solution that uses independent self-powered shuttles to move pallets within the rack. Designed for high-turnover goods storage, this solution allows for continuous automatic pallet loading and retrieval using a remote control system. Unit loads are either placed in the first available position until the rack is fully loaded or retrieved from their storage position and moved to the front, ready to be picked up by a forklift, until the rack is fully unloaded.
The AR Shuttle is positioned in the required lane for forklifts. Pallets are loaded one by one by forklifts at the end of the aisle.
The shuttle lifts the pallet onto the platform and moves it along the channel until it reaches the first free position, where it places the pallet. Then, it returns to the beginning of the lane to be ready for the next driving cycle. The Pallet Shuttle system allows warehouse operation through both FIFO and LIFO management, with the latter being more common due to using only one end of the aisle for loading and unloading pallets.
For FIFO operation in the Pallet Shuttle system, forklift access must be enabled at the end of the level, thus allowing access to the unit load located at the back. This will make it possible to complete the FIFO warehouse management cycle, and the first pallet to enter the structure will be the first pallet to exit. Before bringing the last friend
Advantages
The main advantages of the pallet shuttle system are the compactibility of the racking and increased productivity and safety in the warehouse.
– The Pallet Shuttle system allows you to maximize available floor space and height by minimizing the operating aisles required for trucks.
– The AR Shuttle system enables automatic inventory control by using sensors to count the number of stored pallets.
– Remote control and barcodes help better control goods, significantly reducing the margin of error.
– Since forklift operators do not have to enter the aisles, maximum safety is ensured when loading and unloading pallets, avoiding collisions within the racking structure. This reduces maintenance costs as well as the number of problems from handling loads.
– With the pallet shuttle system, stored pallets can be loaded and unloaded as FIFO or LIFO, even in freezer chambers down to -30ºC.
– FIFO / LIFO space optimization
– Allows for a continuous processing flow, speeding up operations in the warehouse.
– Continuous processing flow
– Uses rechargeable lithium batteries
– High safety operation with low maintenance costs
– RF wave control
– Flexible storage for different pallet types
Main applications of Pallet Shuttle Rack
– Semi-automatic Pallet Shuttle Racking is a system that optimizes space and productivity in warehouses.
– Warehouses with high loading and unloading operations, thus requiring high warehouse productivity.
– Warehouses with a reduced number of product references but a large volume of pallets.
– Warehouses storing seasonal goods, requiring fast and flexible operations during specific periods.
– Warehouses with cold rooms or freezer rooms, due to maximum compressed space, along with time savings in pallet loading and unloading.
– Due to its dual FIFO and LIFO management capabilities, it can be suitable for warehouses storing both perishable and non-perishable products, depending on the chosen configuration.
