Detailed structure of Double Deep rack

Double Deep racking consists of 6 basic components:
– Upright frame: Bears the load of the entire system
– Frame bracing: Distributes force between upright frames
– Beam: Connects two upright frames. This is where pallets are placed
– Column protector: Connects the upright frame to the floor, keeping the system stable
– Guard rail: Protects the system from collisions with other equipment.
– Pallet rail: Prevents pallets from derailing from the rack

Storage Pallet

– Pallets deep inside are loaded and unloaded using a special forklift with an extendable arm.
– Higher storage capacity compared to Selective racking.
– Basic investment cost per rack is estimated to be similar to that of Selective racking.
– Warehouse staff must move front pallets to access pallets behind them.
Pallets are stored deep and retrieved first according to the “Last-In, First-Out (LIFO)” principle.
– Due to racks being arranged one behind the other, picking space is reduced.
