Forklifts are one of the most powerful vehicles in industrial warehouses and for builders. Whether you need to move heavy objects in a warehouse or in the construction field, forklifts can safely lift objects that humans cannot. Let’s learn about the popular types of forklifts today with Viet Pos Rack. We are a unit specializing in manufacturing and distributing warehouse racks. Warehouse Forklift
Warehouse forklifts are easily recognizable. It looks like a yellow golf cart with forks extending from the front. You will frequently use this forklift in a facility with a large number of items in stock. These trucks are ideal for loading and unloading pallets and balanced materials, as well as removing and transporting items from delivery vehicles. Most industrial forklifts can lift 5,000 lbs, but some heavy-duty models are capable of lifting up to 25,000 lbs.
Side Loader Forklifts
Side loader forklifts are often found in steel service centers and manufacturing facilities with heavy and bulky items. The operator stands in a tilting compartment and the side loader unloads items from its side. Due to the tilting operation, side loader forklifts can easily move up with the rack and load/unload without having to turn around. This makes them suitable for navigating narrow aisles and handling long loads such as timber and pipes.
Counterbalance Forklift
A counterbalance forklift is a common type of forklift characterized by forks at the front and a weight at the rear of the truck to counterbalance the weight of the load. Counterbalance forklifts do not have extending arms, allowing them to move directly to the load. There are several different types of counterbalance forklifts. The 3-wheel variant is ideal for situations where the operator needs to turn around and move in circles. Stand-up counterbalance forklifts allow the operator to easily get on and off between loads.
Telehandler
A telehandler, or a telescopic handler, has an extendable arm, a combination of a crane and a forklift. The dual forks attached to this arm are used to move pallets off the ground. A standard telehandler is capable of lifting 5,500 lbs of material from heights up to 19 ft in the air. These material handling trucks are ideal for reaching tight spaces and hidden corners.
Industrial Forklifts
Industrial forklifts combine the functions of a warehouse forklift with that of a telehandler. While it cannot reach difficult angles in the same way a telehandler can, it is capable of lifting much higher payloads than a warehouse forklift and heavier objects. Industrial forklifts start with a maximum lifting capacity of 30,000 lbs. Industrial forklifts have a narrower range than telehandlers and warehouse forklifts.
Rough Terrain Forklifts
Also known as straight mast forklifts, rough terrain forklifts are specifically designed for outdoor jobs, especially on uneven surfaces. These trucks have sturdy pneumatic tires that allow them to navigate rocky ground. The special tires are oversized and threaded, which gives them more balance and stability to transport materials safely.
Pallet Jack
Pallet jacks are specialized in nature. Also called pump trucks, these forklifts are not capable of lifting large loads due to their small size. In exchange for power, pallet jacks are small in size, allowing them to fit into the tightest spaces and lift small loads in confined areas. While you sacrifice power and maneuverability, the cost of buying and renting pallet jacks is much lower. You can choose between manual pallet jacks or electric pallet jacks.
