What is a Plywood Pallet?
Plywood pallets, also known as engineered wood pallets, are pallets made from multiple layers of thin wood pressed together. These layers are usually arranged perpendicularly to increase strength and load-bearing capacity. Plywood pallets are widely used in import-export activities, transportation, and storage of goods.
The structure of a plywood pallet consists of two main parts:
- Top surface: A smooth plywood sheet, creating a flat surface for placing goods.
- Bottom part: Consists of wooden bars or plywood sheets joined together, acting as the main load-bearing component.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Plywood Pallets
Advantages:
- Low cost: Compared to other types of pallets such as natural wood pallets or plastic pallets, plywood pallets are more competitively priced.
- Lightweight: Easy to move and handle, helping to save on transportation costs.
- Flat surface: Convenient for packaging and transporting goods, especially products with uneven surfaces.
- Anti-termite: Plywood is often treated to be anti-termite, ensuring the durability of the pallet.
- Easy to recycle: Plywood pallets can be recycled into other products, contributing to environmental protection.
Disadvantages:
- Limited load capacity: Compared to natural wood pallets, plywood pallets have a lower load capacity.
- Low durability: Easily damaged when exposed to humid environments or strong impacts.
Applications of Plywood Pallets
Plywood pallets are widely used in various fields, including:
- Import and export: Packaging and transporting import and export goods.
- Cargo transportation: Transporting goods in warehouses, factories, and supermarkets.
- Goods storage: Arranging and storing goods in warehouses.
- Merchandise display: Used in stores and supermarkets to display merchandise.
